Back from Yellowstone

I am back from my vacation to Yellowstone National Park. We went with family and had such a marvelous time!

Our vacation was marred by the news of Hurricane Katrina. I lived in New Orleans for years and weathered many many hurricanes. Such is the norm down there, but the breakage of the levees brought such terrible havoc to the area. Many fled for their lives and have lost everything.

A dear friend of mine and her husband were some of those who find themselves in this situation. To make matters worse, they are deaf and blind and depend upon their service/guide dogs for help with everyday living. Family is fine, dogs are fine, but all that makes up a "household" is lost to them and they are having to start over.

I don't normally advertise in my blog, but a wonderful company, SitStay, is matching donations to help with the dog food, treats, and other supplies for these precious and hard working dogs. The url for helping is: http://www.sitstay.com/homstad.shtml

If you wish to help my friend's dogs, please go to that url and donate what you can. SitStay is matching your donation dollar for dollar. While there, take a look around and see what you might find to purchase for your pet.

Please hug your pet today, they are so precious to us!
